Tom Iseley, Ph.D., P.E., Professor & Director, Construction Engineering Management Technology, IUPUI-Purdue School of Engineering & Technology
Technology continues to change the way the construction industry operates. Information systems to help manage the project and automation tools to help with production in the field are constantly changing, and construction professionals need to do the proper due diligence in order to make the right decision.
Professor Iseley addresses the topic of technology evaluation in today’s construction environment. Construction professionals need to be thinking of technology in two ways: in the office and in the field. This session will examine the changing needs of the marketplace and the new requirements expected of all parties throughout the process, as well as a glimpse into what the future holds.
Constructech magazine presents the Technology Town Hall Meeting at Technology Day 2009. Held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel on Aug. 20, 2009, Technology Day will feature a Technology Town Hall Meeting during the afternoon where construction professionals from across the country will gather to address some of the biggest technology issues facing this industry.
This session will present an open and interactive discussion on the overall theme of:
How can you use technology to keep your business strong?
Among the topics to be covered:
- How does technology help you stay in business?
- What works and what doesn’t when it comes to technology?
- How can technology vendors work better with construction companies during tough times?
- What is lacking when it comes to current technology on the market?
- How can you avoid common mistakes with technology?
- How can technology help your company thrive today?
- What are some lessons learned from using and implementing technology?
- Where are you willing to spend new technology dollars?
Many more…
Constructech will assemble multiple sets of panelists made up of builders and contractors to address the various topics, and hopefully spur further questions from the audience. The intent is to create a lively and engaging conversation among all attendees and in the end produce valuable insight the industry can use to better leverage technology going forward.
