Carol Stream, Ill. August 24, 2006 Last night, members of the construction industry from all over the country gathered together as Constructech magazine honored the winners of its 2006 Vision Awards during a ceremony and conference held at the European Crystal Banquet and Conference Center in Arlington Heights, Ill., just outside of Chicago.

With the addition of the Technology Day conference this year, Constructech magazine raised the bar on its celebration of construction industry achievements. Rather than just the traditional evening of enjoyable social networking, this year attendees were able to spend the afternoon sharing and absorbing experiences of successful technology implementations.

“This has been an extremely exciting time for all the winners. Not only did we have an unprecedented number of entries, but the caliber of the winners has far exceeded our expectations,” said Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Constructech magazine. “Couple that with the record breaking attendance at our conference and awards dinner, and this only proves that the construction industry is quickly surpassing all others when it comes to embracing and leading the charge for technology adoption.

The Vision Awards ceremony is an annual competition organized by Constructech magazine. It is open to companies in the following areas: residential, commercial, and industrial construction. This includes general contractors, and subcontractors in all trades, such as heavy highway, electrical, mechanical, etc. as well as architectural and engineering firms, corporate owners, facility management firms, government agencies, and land developers.

Each year, interested companies submit entries explaining their challenges, solutions, and the benefits that result. Entries are judged by an independent panel of judges. This year, the panel included: Christian Burger of Burger Consulting, Brad Holtz and Joel Orr of Cyon Research, John Jurewicz of A-Architects, and Richard Reese and Bruce Wilkinson of FMI Corp.
