San Jose Selects Skire

Running a tight project on a closed construction site is hard enough. Building in an area open to the public adds another layer of difficulty to a project.

Such is the case for construction work at the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose Intl. Airport. Recognizing the complicated nature of the project, the City of San Jose, Calif. invested in capital program and project management technology from Skire Inc., www.skire.com, Menlo Park, Calif.

According to Skire, the City of San Jose evaluated six different solutions during a seven-month period for design and construction of a new terminal at the airport. The city’s criteria included the ability to unify design, scheduling, budgeting, funding management, and construction data and processes in one application.

The evaluation team also gave high marks to the solution’s user interface, Skire says. Intuitive screens and clear overviews of information at the program and contract levels, combined with the ability to perform complex functions with a single mouse-click, are expected to simplify deployment and user adoption.

“Skire is pleased to be chosen by the City of San Jose for the new airport terminal project,” says Massy Mehdipour, CEO, Skire. “We clearly understand the intricacies and interrelationship of design, construction, project cost, and funding data and processes in large, public-sector capital projects, and we are committed to helping San Jose maximize the use of taxpayer dollars while it creates a new terminal that welcomes the world to the heart of Silicon Valley.”
