FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CAROL STREAM, Ill. – Dec. 22, 2005– Five project-management experts will join Constructech magazine’s Peggy Smedley and Mike Carrozzo for a panel discussion on the importance of technology in the construction industry at the 2006 Technology for Construction (TFC) trade show on Jan. 16, in Las Vegas.
Peggy Smedley, Constructech’s editorial director, and Mike Carrozzo, Constructech’s editor, will moderate a panel discussion called, “Why should you care about technology?” at the TCF show, which is part of the larger World of Concrete show. This roundtable panel will host leaders in project management as they discuss the role of project management, knowledgebases, and the future of construction.
“This panel will examine how commercial contractors and builders are taking advantage of project management technology and tools,” Smedley says. “The Technology for Construction show is a great forum for learning about how technology is improving on-the-job communication and collaboration.”
Panelists include John Bodrozic, president/cofounder for Meridian Systems; Richard Faris, chief technology officer for Primavera; Bassem Hamdy, director of marketing and product management for CMiC; Erin-Todd Hansen, product director for Sage Timberline Accounting Suite; and Leslie Shiner, senior industry advisor for Intuit Construction Business Solutions. The panel will also field questions from the audience on a range of topics surrounding the importance of information technology.
“This panel provides a good forum for TFC attendees to understand why the ‘one size fits all approach’ to project management technology is no longer applicable in today’s marketplace,” says Meridian’s Bodrozic. “Organizations have unique construction project management requirements based on the needs of their business, and technology vendors need to respond accordingly.”
Says Primavera’s Faris, “Construction companies need to be armed with the best tools and project management processes available to survive the competitive nature of today’s market. Although there has been significant growth in construction, productivity gains remain elusive. As providers of technology, it is our responsibility to communicate the value of strong project management and its potential to positively influence a construction company’s productivity and ultimately its market share.”
“CMiC is always eager to participate in events that will aid us in understanding how to better serve the AEC industry,” remarks Hamdy. “We feel that by continuing a dialogue with the industry, CMiC can continue its long standing tradition of providing solutions that mitigate risk and increase productivity for the industry as a whole.”
“Regardless of our respective specialties or offerings, we as software vendors share a common goal: to help our customers become successful,” says Sage Software’s Hansen. “With this panel, the Constructech editorial staff is providing a great venue for any contractor to start planning their future technology needs in order to stay competitive in their market.”
“Since the dawn of time, man—especially builders—has consistently used the latest tools to solve difficult tasks. However, when it comes to using the most up-to-date software to ensure they’re maximizing their profitability on their jobs, builders are still in the Stone Age,” says Intuit’s Shiner. “I look forward to sharing Intuit’s vision with other industry leaders to learn how we can advance the building industry’s use of technology into the future.”
The session is scheduled for 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Jan. 16. For more information on the Technology for Construction show, visit www.technologyforconstruction.com.
