Infrastructure Construction in 3D
A big component of any construction project is designing and running simulations of the facility in order to do clash detection and identify problems prior to construction. For infrastructure construction projects, this is also critical in order to reduce errors on bridges, rails, and road projects across the globe.
Last week, Chinese public engineering company, SMEDI (Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute), www.smedi.com, Shanghai, China, partnered with Dassault Systèmes, www.3ds.com, Vélizy-Villacoublay, France, to open a new research and development center in Shanghai, China, that focuses on creating industry solutions for civil engineering and infrastructure construction professionals.
According to the companies, the center will open in August and will focus on bridge projects, water supply and wastewater treatment installations, roads, rail systems, and open and underground buildings.
Dassault Systèmes is a provider of 3DEXPERIENCE, a platform for civil engineering and infrastructure construction professionals that allow teams to design, simulate, and manage any size infrastructure project. The technology ultimately helps reduce errors and deliver projects on time and on budget.
SMEDI has managed more than 7,000 projects including environmental, water resource projects, structural engineering projects, and large-scale transportation infrastructure.
Together, the companies will work jointly to create and validate solution experience specifications. In addition, the organizations plan to deliver industry standards and content for the use of technology in infrastructure construction projects.
